INTRODUCTION

Lets start with a bit about web design, and how to make a start.

FIRST OF ALL, INSTALL WORDPRESS ONTO YOUR HOSTING

And before I go any further, i am NOT talking about wordpress.com, that is something completely different.

Be aware that every hosting company is a little different, and often will try and charge you to manage your wordpress, and you don’t really need that. You just need a solid hosting company (I use Ionos) with a recent PHP version (8 or higher), with the ability to have wordpress on it.

Be aware that hosting companies will charge you for lots of extras, so be careful. Godaddy will charge a lot for an SSL certificate, or email addresses, and it can quickly add up, so do a little research and find out exactly how much it is going to cost you each month before you chose them.

Most hosting companies allow a “one click install” of WordPress, and this makes it fairly simple to do.

LET’S MAKE A START

So, imagine you have already installed wordpress onto your hosting. Most hosting companies offer a “one click install” option.

For free images use unsplash or pixabay. There are a few out there.

ADDING POSTS

This is how to add news, or a blog to your site.

It’s a great way to keep people up to date with what you are doing, and also Google likes to see that a website is current, so if you add something each month then it all helps you to get found.
